United States Census 2010

 

Every 10 years, everyone living in the United States is counted. Young, old, worker, non-worker, citizen, non-citizen; if you live here, you count.

It's Easy! In 2010, every household will received a short census questionnaire. It asks the following questions and only takes a few minutes to complete and return.

  • Number of people in household

  • Phone Number

  • Name of each person who resides with you

  • Relationship

  • Gender

  • Age and date of birth

  • Race and ethnicity

  • Rent or own

Your participation is vital to a complete and accurate count.

         It's Safe! Every Census Bureau worker takes an oath for life to protect the confidentiality of Census responses. By law, the Census Bureau does not share your answers with anyone, not even other government agencies. The Census Bureau takes your privacy seriously.

  • Your personal information including your name, address, or phone number is not shared

  • Your answers are protected

  • Your identity is safe

It's Important! Every year more than $400 billion in federal funds are awarded to states and communities based on Census data. That's more than  trillion over a 10-year period. Completing your 2010 Census form helps provide:

  • Each state's number of seats in the U. S. House of Representatives

  • Community planning such for roads, hospitals, schools, and more

  • Jobs

  • Language services

  • Health services

Achieving a complete and accurate 2010 Census is in our hands.

The 2010 Census will provide a snapshot of who we are as a nation. It answers questions like how many people are here, who we are, and where we live. Taken every 10 years, census data help your community received its fair share of federal funding for programs and services.
