President’s Comments: Well, if you’re anything like me, you are still in shock that 2016 zipped by so fast and has taken its place in the amazing history of our little town. It is always such a joy to see everything lit up for the holidays. Congratulations to Tom & Julie Carpenter and Crossings Winery for winning the “Decorate the Town” contest. I can’t wait for the Chamber banquet and announcement of Citizen of the Year. Those are always so much fun! Call & get your tickets now.

I am honored to have been your Chamber President for a short time. Although it was a surprise, I learned a lot and discovered what a treasure we have in our citizens and some of our “Old Timers”. They really have seen it all and have a wisdom & determination that I truly admire. We could all use some lessons while they are still teaching.

I appreciate what David Payne accomplished while he was our President and I am looking forward to supporting Mike and the new Chamber Board this coming year. I hope you will join me in finding the time to volunteer and do what can be done to improve our community. Wishing you all a healthy, happy and prosperous 2017.

Special Event: Dickens Festival

The Glenn’s Ferry Opera Theater is hosting it’s second year of Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol, this year however we are making the effort to launch a Dickens Festival in conjunction with the play production.

What this entails is our local business owners/employees embracing the theme and dressing the part. That’s right, we want to step back in time to the 1800’s through out the entire community. Individuals are even encouraged to join in the festivities.

Play Productions will be Friday and Saturday evenings December 9th and 10th. So if you are a business open on these days we ask that you and your employees join in the festivities.

If you need help finding a costume, or design idea, you may contact either Connie Wills or Heidi Hersey.

Dues:  There are still eleven individuals and business who have not paid their dues for 2016.  Notices have been sent out.

 President’s Message:  Hello Chamber Members

Well, like it or not, 2016 is winding down and the change of seasons is upon us.  As your somewhat reluctant and VERY temporary Chamber President, I’ve been asked to say a few words here.  I have worked under 2 of the past Presidents, Traci Stewart and David Payne, and their drive & enthusiasm was so admirable, that I feel a bit inadequate in their shoes.

What I would like to do is take this opportunity to urge you, as a Chamber member, to become more active in our organization.  Though your dues are appreciated, we need more actual participation to be the kind of positive force that we would like to be.  I have seen many past members come in with the fire and motivation but get tired and burned out because they can’t get the help they need.  There are also a few of our most active and loyal members that are ready to retire and slow down a bit.

It’s time to ask yourself if you have any time and energy to give to this community that we all love so much.  If there were more of us, we could each use our time on projects we are passionate about and really have an organization to be proud of.  Please, give it some thought and meanwhile enjoy your Autumn and upcoming Holidays.

It has been a pleasure and honor to serve as your Chamber President for the past two years. We have done many things to build on the great community we live in. The highlights of 2015 were the purchase of Movie in the Park equipment, Adding some more fun events to our 4th of July Celebration (pageant, ping pong ball drop, entertainment), installing a new Welcome to Glenns Ferry sign on the east end of town, and beginning an expansion to our loved Ghost Tour.
I have high hopes for what 2016 will bring and wish you and your businesses a successful 2016!
